Convocation and Mental Creation Experiment 2/23/25 Parkrose 2:00 PM

February 23rd, Sunday @ Parkrose 2:00 PM : Atrium Convocation followed by a Mental Creation experiment
Wish you had been there with us!

The first Atrium Group ritual, open to friends and family, was a great success.  Eighteen people attended, four of them being curious friends and family, and that was missing seven of our regulars!

Afterwards, the new people and newly attending members were saying what an interesting event it was and how they hoped we did it again.  They had questions about neophyte initiations versus Pronaos and Temple initiations, and so forth.

We performed the Atrium Group ritual, which was new to us all, and practiced the Visualization Experiment.

That means there’s a slight change in the Convocation, coming up next Sunday, February 23rd, at 2 pm, where we’ll enjoy the Mental Creation Experiment instead of the Visualization Experiment.

The Mental Creation Experiment builds on what we learned in the Visualization Experiment.

We’ll be meeting at Parkrose Lodge, [Link for directions] and not at the Grange in Wilsonville, because the Grangers are repairing a roof leak.

This Sunday’s Convocation is a member’s-only convocation.

Our next open meeting (non-member friends and family welcome) will be March 9th, at Parkrose Lodge.  We will present the Mystical Maya movie, and will have a showing of Mayan ritual and art objects collected by one of our members during his years of going to Mayan rituals in Mexico.  We will discuss those things and their similarities and differences from Rosicrucian symbols.

Address: 4812 NE 102nd Ave. Portland, OR 97220

Schedule

1:30 PM – Doors Open

2:00 PM – Doors Close for Convocation (members only)

3:00 PM – Refreshments

Atrium Convocation 2/6/25 Parkrose 2:00 PM

Atrium Convocation? What’s that about? Bring your mystically-inclined friends and join us on February 9th, 2 pm, at Parkrose Lodge, for our FIRST EVER Atrium Convocation! While Pronaos can be translated as “the entry to the Temple” an Atrium can be translated as “the entry to the Pronaos”. In the Rosicrucian world, the groups have different names according to the number of people who regularly attend the meetings there. First, there are Discussion Groups, with three or more attendees, discussions, but not convocations.
Convocations can be translated as “coming together to work together” only, in our case, the work is done on both the physical & mystical planes. “They are based on a traditional ritual and have the purpose of setting into motion positive energies for humanity, while allowing the members in attendance to benefit from those energies as well.”
Atrium Groups have at least 7 regularly attending members, Pronaoi have 13 regularly attending members, Chapters, 20 and Lodges 30. Our international leadership has decided that non-members as well as members may attend Atrium Group convocations, so we will make this happen for the first time this February 9th. Join us for something thrillingly new and be kind to us as we learn how to conduct this new ritual! As well as bringing friends, bring a refreshment or two to share!

One purpose of attending a Pronaos is to learn and practice Rosicrucian skills. The Experiment we will practice at our meeting on February 23rd, 2 pm, at Parkrose Lodge, will remind us of the importance of using the skill of Visualization. Join us for this practice and then for the social hour afterwards, where we celebrate our mystical friendships and plan our next adventures. Bring a healthy treat or drink to share afterwards please.

“Fratres and Sorores, although we are conscious of the importance of visualization in the mystical sense, do we really use it in our lives as well as we could? This faculty is essential not only for our spiritual quest, but also in the mundane material things of life all around us. It is with this powerful technique that we are able to realize and materialize our deepest wishes. That is why we must make every effort to learn to use visualization in every area of our lives.”

Show Us your Cool Rocks (Crystals and fossils too!)
DO YOU HAVE A ROCK YOU WANT TO BRING TO SHOW-&-TELL?

Sunday, January 26, 1-3 pm.

Parkrose directions and parking
4812 NE 102nd Ave. Portland, OR 97220

Bring your friends and family and a drink (non-alcoholic) or munchie to share.  The building is handicapped accessible.  We’ll have introductions around, then begin the show and tell.  Each person who is willing will talk 5 minutes about their pretties, and afterwards, we’ll roam from collection to collection.
Feel free to bring interesting rocks, minerals, crystals or fossils to this show-and-tell! No scientific knowledge is required, but it’s always fun to discuss:
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU? Our group uses a scientific and mystical lens to look at the world, but the natural world has a lot of meanings to different people, so this might include:

“This is the quartz crystal that started my love of geology at age 5!”
“This cobble has special meaning to my fellow tribal members.”
“This 3 billion year-old fossil inspires awe every time I hold it!”
“This is one of my field samples from my research last summer.”
WHERE DID YOU FIND IT? e.g. “my grandmother’s yard” or “Wyoming” or “Clackamette Park” or even GPS coordinates on a map.

Peace Profound!

West Coast Premiere of “Love Thru Darkness” Jan. 5

West Coast Premiere of “Love Thru Darkness” an award-winning film by Rosicrucian Grand Councilor Emerita Jean Donohue.   Bring your friends, and your favorite popped popcorn!

Sunday, January 5th, 3:30 pm, Parkrose Lodge, 4812 NE 102nd Avenue, Portland, Or

LOVE THRU DARKNESS is a documentary featuring the life and work of Cincinnati’s jazz/hip hop artist Napoleon Maddox

Based on one of Maddox’ songs, the film explores Napoleon’s life as an internationally renowned songwriter, performer and artist.

Cincinnati’s famed police brutality and the shooting of Timothy Thomas is the backdrop to the beginning of the film along with widespread displacement of West End residents as the soccer stadium demolition begins. Maddox’ music extends beyond the local to a history of an enslaved family and ultimate victory (“Twice the First Time”), to his most current album “L’Ouverture de Toussaint,” who led the first successful revolution and slave revolt against the empire. Napoleon, collaborating with some of the most  respected musicians alive today – Roy Nathanson and Papanosh (New York) Hamid Drake (Chicago), Curtis Fowlkes (New York), Sorg (France), Jowee Omicil (Canada), Bad Fat (France), Brian Greer (Cincinnati), his recordings are a who’s who of contemporary jazz, hip hop, and fanfare. Lacing history, personal challenges, and visions for the future, this film traces his musical journey from Cincinnati’s Beat Box Studio to the famous Parisian jazz club, New Morning and the Paris Premiere of “L’Ouverture de Toussaint.”

A film by Jean Donohue and a project of Cincinnati-based Media Working Group

About Media Working Group – Media Working Group is the oldest collective of media artists in the region. Founded in 1987 it has been supporting independent filmmakers and has produced more than 130 films and 200 + educational events.

Enneadic Star Pronaos annual Open Convocation by Invitation – November 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM Parkrose

Dear Fraters and Sorors,

Our next in-person meeting on Sunday the 10th, at 1 pm, Parkrose Lodge, is the annual Open Convocation by Invitation.

This means INVITE SOME SEEKING FRIENDS TO JOIN YOU THERE! Pick them up and bring them with you!

We have had a nice sprinkling of new attendees, but we would like to have more! The more members, the cooler rituals we’ll be able to do!

The Discourse that we’ve chosen is a special one: The Imaginal World of the Ancient Egyptians. Here is a tantalizing quote from the discourse, which goes into much more esoterica than the usual discourse:

“If the Imaginal World is generally incomprehensible to rational Egyptologists, it is only because they want to explain everything from the logical point of view and not venture onto the tortuous paths of the irrational. As far as they are concerned, this world had no useful purpose other than to nourish the imagination of the Egyptian people and to give them hope of life in the hereafter.”

“As Rosicrucians, we look at the matter in a different way. We know in fact that there exists within us and outside of us a spiritual world that can be discovered, particularly by means of initiation. Furthermore, we are all familiar with the concept of the Celestial Sanctum as presented in Liber 777 (click to open PDF). This concept allows us to better understand the Imaginal World of the ancient Egyptians, because both worlds are constructed on the same principle.”

So, reading between the lines above, the Egyptians and the Rosicrucians have been using image – inal thinking in the spiritual world and initiating seekers into that deliberately constructed world. Just how has that been done? Come hear the rest of the discourse and join your fellow seekers and initiates!

Directions can be found at:

From Blindness to 360 Degree Vision–What 4,000 Near Death Cases Bring to Light

By Yuhong Dong, M.D., Ph.D.

Vicki Umipeg was prematurely born at 22 weeks, weighing 3 pounds. Her optic nerve was damaged due to high oxygen in the incubator, resulting in complete blindness. She had no visual experiences, no awareness of light whatsoever.

At the age of 22, she was thrown out of a car in Seattle, resulting in severe injuries—skull fractures, concussion, and injuries to her neck, back, and leg. While being rescued in the hospital, she found herself floating to the ceiling.

She had panoramic vision and saw a woman’s body lying on a metal operating table, with a male and a female medical staff working to save her. When she noticed the distinct wedding ring on the woman’s hand, she realized it was her ring, and the woman lying there was her.

As she had been blind all her life, she had never seen that ring or her body. Only in that near-death experience (NDE) did she see her ring.

Vicki was the research subject of Dr. Jeffrey Long, a practicing radiation oncologist in Kentucky. Long has dedicated more than 25 years to studying near-death experiences. He has researched and reviewed more than 4,000 cases of unique NDEs and published them on his website, the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation.

Long summarized the most common experiences of NDE based on his research, which is similar to what Dr. Raymond Moody, known as the father of NDE, has found:

  • Out-of-body experience
  • Absence of pain
  • Passage through a tunnel towards a bright light
  • Encountering deceased loved ones in a heavenly realm
  • Undergoing a profound life review
  • Feeling overwhelming love and peace

Vicki’s case falls under the typical type of “out-of-body experience.” Her experience, especially the panoramic vision, is shared by all with NDEs.

360-Degree Vision

In a recent conversation with The Epoch Times, Long recalled his conversation with the blind woman.

“She had a 360-degree vision, where she could simultaneously be aware of and process vision during her near-death experience, in front of her, behind her, right, left, up, down.”

“In fact, I told Vicki that the rest of us in our earthly lives have these pie-shaped visual fields because of the location of our eyes, in our eye sockets. She literally laughed at me because her entire life experience with vision [during her NDE] was at 360 or spherical vision.”

Furthermore, initially unfamiliar with math and science, Vicki intuitively grasped calculus and understood how planets are formed after her NDE. She gained answers to questions about science, math, life, planets, and God, experiencing a flood of knowledge and understanding languages she didn’t know before.

From Delusional to Real

People who reported near-death experiences were often dismissed by the scientific community as delusional or religiously influenced until a significant shift in perspective over the past few decades.

In 1978, five independent medical doctors and scientists—John Audette, who has a master of science degree; Dr. Bruce Greyson; Dr. Raymond Moody; Ken Ring, who has a doctorate in social psychology; and Dr. Michael Sabom—co-established the International Association for Near-Death Studies, paving the way for exploring these extraordinary experiences through scientific lenses.

“I first heard about near-death experience decades ago when I was in my residency training,” Long said, “and in one of the world’s most prestigious medical journals, the Journal of the American Medical Association.”

Initiation Requests for January 2025

Greetings Fraters and Sorors!

We have been very pleased to welcome a few new members at our meetings.  The tradition states that after a new member has attended a Pronaos Convocation three times, they should request to be initiated into the Pronaos.   At this moment we have one person who has attended three times and two who have attended one time. There are two Convocations in October, on the 13th and the 27th and one in November, on the 10th.  It would be so wonderful if we had three people to initiate later in January!  To request that you receive the Pronaos Initiation, please write an email to that effect and send it to oregon@amorc.rosicrucian.org, and we will begin the joyous process of preparing for the Initiation.
